T. J. Barnes

BFA: Herron School of Art, 1993
TJ Barnes was born in 1974 near the confluence of the Wabash and Ohio rivers. He received his BFA from Herron School of Art 1993, wandered around for years then acquired his MFA from the University of Minnesota in Time and Interactivity in 2011. He currently spends his winters in the great north woods of the upper Midwest and his summers based out of the southwest working for the U.S. Forest Service as a Prescott Hotshot. TJ has shown internationally, most notable as a visiting artist at the Beijing Film Academy in 2009. His work has also been shown nationally at venues including AOT(Art of This), Gallery 1419, and the Sellout Gallery in Minneapolis, MN, Mabel Studios in North Carolina, and the McDade Collection in Prescott, AZ. TJ states his work can also be viewed in the forest around the nation in the form of chainsaw stump carvings.
