10 CHANCES: NO HUSTLE – AN EXPERIMENTAL URBAN ARTISTS’ RESIDENCY

SECOND STAGE

K. Valentine CADIEUX, Daniel DEAN, John FLEISCHER, Ben GARTHUS [NYC], Kelsey OLSON, Peter McLARNAN, Emily STOVER, Chad RUTTER, Lee WALTON [GRNSBRO], and Patricia HEALY McMEANS

Join us to celebrate Minneapolis’ first discursive art residency which bridges the gap between academia and the real world. It is a place for serious artists of rigor to step back from the Hustle and take time for experiment and research. Ideas, like people, sometimes need a second chance to find their groove. Give them three. Give them ten.

Nine practicing artists, both local (MSP) and out-of-state, came together in late July, taking up temporary work residence in a 2,000 square foot former-deli on Nicollet Avenue for three weeks.

All participants were asked to bring an open mind, an open heart, and studio chops.

We thank our Guest Lecturers this pilot season: Kinji Akagawa, Cameron Gainer, and Jan Estep for their provocative conversations and one-on-one meetings.

The Second Stage exhibition is the first of several events this Fall which begin to document our time in residence.
